Description: Painted concrete monument with inscriptions: “G.A.R. ~ Cemetery ~ 1887″, In Memory Of ~ Comrades ~ That Lie In The ~ Southland ~ In Unmarked ~ Graves”, “In Memory Of ~ Our ~ Countrys’ ~ Defenders”, and a carved GAR medal.

Type: Pavilion
Description: Central to the Kansas Veterans Cemetery is a large pavilion. The arch just below the roof states: “No One Is Ever Buried Alone, All Are Buried With Honor”. Seals of the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, and Coast Guard are on the back wall.

Description: The monument has a granite plaque with the inscription: “Dedicated In Memory ~ Of All Who Served ~ Our Country, To The ~ Unsung Heroes ~ Who Died Of Thirst ~ Erected By The Mothers ~ Of World War II ~ Francis Black Unit 9”.

Kansas Soldiers Home (west side of 700 blk of Sheridan St.) – Map

Description: Located at the Fort Dodge Soldiers Home, east entrance, under roofed display area is a bronze smoothbore 12-Pounder Napoleon, M1857. The carriage has been recently restored.
