Description: Erected June 1, 2002. The inscription on the base of the statue reads: “Corporal V.B. Ness ~ Seventh Kansas Cavalry ~ Died August 22, 1864 ~ Abbeville, Mississippi ~ In 1878, The Kansas Legislature Named Ness County In His Honor. This Statue Is In Memory Of Noah Ness And All The Brave Men Who Have Fought To Keep This Country Free. ~ Dedicated June 2000 ~ Sculptor: Harold T. Holden”.
