SONS OF UNION
VETERANS OF THE CIVIL WAR
The
Department of Kansas has a unique distinction of being one of the oldest and
youngest Departments of the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War
(SUVCW). Originally chartered in 1883,the Department ceased operations when Old Abe Camp 16 in
Topeka closed in 1973. The Department
re-formed and was re-chartered in July of 1996.
It now consists of four Camps located throughout the state.
